Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV)

Heat Transfer Vinyl, also known as HTV, is used on items such as T-shirts, bags, hats and other fabric apparel items. On the reverse of the HTV, there is a heat activated adhesive, and with the use of an iron or heat press the HTV is transferred to the garment.

Heat Transfer Vinyl is available in array of colours and as well as the Standard HTV, there are many other varieties available, such as; Glitter, & Metallic

Permanent Outdoor Adhesive Vinyl

Commonly referred to as ‘651’ vinyl, 651 is in reference to Oracal’s brand of Permanent Vinyl, although there are other manufacturers of vinyl, this is what most people mean when referring to ‘651’ vinyl. This kind of vinyl has a glossy finish and is used for outdoors and anything that will need to withstand the outdoor elements. You can also use it on anything that requires a longer lasting finish, such as; Mugs, Signs, Mailboxes etc.

Again as with the Heat Transfer Vinyl, Permanent Vinyl comes in a wide range of colours and varieties. Such as Glitter, and Etched Glass.

Removable Indoor Vinyl

Again, this one is commonly referred to as ‘631’ which is Oracals brand of Indoor Vinyl. This type of vinyl has a matte finish, and is typically used for wall decals and anything that wont be exposed to outdoor elements.

Inkjet Printable Vinyl

Inkjet Printable Vinyl is perfect for when you need to have a ‘printed’ design rather than a layered design. It’s perfect for windows, decals and lots more.

Transfer Tape

Now, in order to apply your design to the item you will also need Transfer Tape, the transfer tape sticks to the front of your vinyl and as you lift the vinyl off it’s backing, the transfer tape stays in place, allowing for ease of application….it’s see through to so you can see exactly where your putting your vinyl design.

Thank you so much for reading, I would love to see your creations made with any of the vinyl mentioned above. Share with me on Pinterest,Facebook or Instagram. I can’t wait to see.

Happy Crafting
